Vula was born out of a need to connect health workers. Here is feedback from the Neurosurgery Department at Frere Hospital, “The Vula App has had a big impact on how we receive referrals and interact with referring doctors. We are able to receive sensitive information in a protected confidential way, together with photos of the injured areas and X-rays. We have quite bad signal in many places in Frere so many times when we can’t be reached telephonically, we can still be contacted via the app. Referring doctors are more comfortable asking for an opinion about patient management over the app instead of phoning directly. It’s easier to formulate management plans when given all the important information methodically and it’s easy to review cases later on for academic purposes’”
